Can anyone help please?

Haven't seen any reviews with smells on the Destiny ? Thought this was the Dreams problem (which seems sorted). Thomson ship is cashless, I understand.

Yes the ship is cashless but if you don't want to lodge your credit card to pay for your on-board purchases, you can deposit £200 p.p. (I think that's what it is) to front-load your 'credit' on board. clearly if you spend more they will expect further deposits and if there is an underspend I suppose you get that back at the end of your cruise. Perhaps someone who has used this system of payment will be able to confirm this for you, cruiser of the seas.

I should say I'm sure you will find the 'Thomson product' very different from RCL - ships older and not in the least bit glitzy and without any 'Wow' factors but the atmosphere on board is so warm and welcoming, service excellent, reasonably priced drinks and excursions and super entertainment, that these factors attract many repeat bookings from loyal customers. But it is horses for courses and if you value climbing walls, ice-rinks etc, perhaps Thomson may not be your cup of tea. But if you go with your eyes open, and don't be put off by first impressions which aren't likely to create a great deal of excitement but allow the friendliness of the crew and passengers grow on you you may well be a convert like many of us on here.

Hi, having cruised previously on RCL (4 times) and now thinking of booking Thompson Destiny( due to special offer) will this be a huge mistake, the reviews are dreadful (bad smells from toilets etc) also are there formal nights and do they accept cash on board? Thanks

Depending on what you enjoy most about cruising will define whether you will enjoy trying out the Destiny. I would say it is quite a contrast to RCI. Smells were on the Dream and yes there is a formal night - one per 7 night cruise - and finally cash is ok but has to be lodged on to your account rather than spent/handed over each time you buy something.
