Inside Cabins

There is so much talk about cabins, but I can't remember seeing anyone bestow the virtues of an inside cabin.

Can anybody stand-up for Inside Cabins??

It keeps you with more money in your pocket. You still get the same food, shows, etc as everybody else.

I leave the bathroom door open a couple inches with the light on so we can see if we need to get up during the night.

I like them for affordability, Hubby LOVES them because he likes to nap in the afternoon and the cabin is nice and dark for him.

I just want to be on the ship. Usually that means an inside (have been upgraded to OV on 2 cruises). I do get my first balcolny in January! Hubby promised it to me as a graduation gift:D

Iv been on 6 cruises all interior rooms. I personally have no problem with them. i mean you really dont spend that much time in your room anyway, and if you do your not cruising the right way!! (dont flame me people just an expression) The rooms are smaller but weve had 4 people in em each time with no problem. As bill said leave a light on at night time, my reason, if you dont the room is PITCH black and youll sleep ALLLLLL day haha. The fold down bunks are cool and work out well, quite comfy to. Just dont be like my cuz and roll off onto the floor, i guess the 20 ft seas had to do with that haha.

We love the inside rooms, for all the same reasons. They are cheaper, we love the fact that it is dark dark dark in there and we can sleep late peacefully. And we get all the same perks that the people paying a lot more get. We have had OV's but decided we would rather save the price difference for DOD's, excursions and the casino. It is all personal preference.

And we always have three or four in a room. Come to think of it, I have only ever slept on a top bunk. Oh well, I love to cruise and the bunks are comfy and I have never fallen out (knocking on wood).

That happened to me on my first cruise...I was on the top bunk! Lucky for me I had several DOD's so I didn't feel any pain...:D

OP: You have not seen any post extolling the virtues of inside cabins:confused:

That may be because people that book inside cabins are more humble than the snobs that brag about their balconies and suites. We’re just happy to be cruising and don't have to brag about how much we spent on the same cruise. We would rather talk about how much we saved. I can take 3 cruises in an inside for what others pay for one cruise in a balcony or suite (or at least I could before Carnival raised the single supplement on 1A's to 200%).

We have been crusing 3x per year recently and figure we care more about cruising than the cabin.

As a result we look for value and jump back and forth between inside, ov and balcony.

For example why do we want to pay say $ 200 for having a window for a week?

One advantage of an inside is it is dark and I can sleep later. We leave the bathroom light on all night as a nightlite.

I will be the first to admit that I am a balcony snob...but I really do spend tons of time out there. When I cruise, sometimes I just want to relax and the party atmosphere of the Lido deck is great, but sometimes just too much.

Now my mom? She is more than fine with an inside as she likes to sleep a lot during the day. My kids bunk with her, but would prefer to have their own balcony room...go figure!:D

It is really unique to the cruiser. If you will spend a lot of time there, it is more than worth the money. Sadly, I don't have the time to vacation more often, so having the money to afford more isn't an issue!

If an inside cabin was the only way I could go, I would take it in a second. If I could afford the balcony, thats the way I would go. To me, a balcony spoils you to ever go back to an inside.

My first cruise was an inside, and I LOVED it! But, ALL of my others have been a balcony, and I LOVED them! Ive had one oceanview, and in my opinion, if its a huge difference in the balcony, I would take it again, but if not, its not worth it to me.

The inside cabins are great for sleeping, plus, you save lots of money! But, I love to be able to walk out on my balcony to check the weather, or see our position...without having to totally dress and walk up to a deck. I admit, I dont spend a total of an hour on my balcony, but I cant do without it now!! LOL But, cruising in my future is starting to point to an inside!! :D

We prefer inside cabins as we can take 2 cruises a year versus just one with a balcony. (look at my signature and you can tell which cruise we had a balcony on....)

The balcony was nice, but not worth the price difference IMO....

The only way we would probably book another balcony would be for an Alaskan cruise or hawaiian cruise, where the private view day after day would be somewhat worthwhile.

Awesome post!

After years of cruising and always needing a balcony, my husband and I just decided this week that from now on, we're going to book inside cabins so we can cruise more frequently.

Thanks for your post!

I luv the inside cabins, as was said b4 you eat the same food, enjoy the same service, visit the same ports, then why pay more for a room I only use when my eyes are closed (or closing)?

Besides I love the fact that its always 'nite' whenever I need to take a nap. :D

Just got back from the Caribbean and had booked 2 insides since we were taking the kids and watching $$'s. My only other experience was a balcony in Alaska and I was really worried that I'd regret not spending the extra $$ on a balcony this time. So from someone who recently asked this very same question, the answer for me personally was... I would book another inside in a heartbeat. I called it our "little cave". It was really cozy and had plenty of space for our stuff. We had 4 port stops during the week and honestly like others say about not spending much time in your cabin, we were in our rooms to sleep, shower, and change before going on to the next thing. I was really worried about it (ask my TA ), but in the end didn't feel that our cruise experience was diminished one bit because of the cabin we had. Hope this helps.

So funny Traveller, thankyou for my best chuckle of the day! I hope to remember this someday when I get to book my first balcony room, and try to keep my attitude in check! LOL. ;)

I've been on 3 cruises, 2 inside cabins and one ocean view. I did like the oceanview the most, but the inside one with BOTH beds on the floor was cool. The inside with the upper-NO. We call that the treehouse because it was.LOL

I'll happily sail in an inside, but NOT with an upper.LOL

I am anxiously awaiting my third cruise and all have been interiors. Often the price difference is the cost of the flight....or close and that means that if I can cruise for a week by booking an interior for under 900$ I am so very happy. I've said it before, if I lived in a state where there was a port, I would often be on a ship. But being from Canada....I need to book flights. I don't even want a balcony for fear of being spoiled. Love the dark (comes in handy when you crawl in from the casino at 5 am...) of the interiors, and as another has said, I bring a nightlight....

Enjoy the extra money you save and all the same advantages as the other cabins.

We booked an inside last year and at the last minute I upgraded b/c of my claustraphobia. Wish I could enjoy the price and the dark. I usually wake up with the sunshine and wish I could sleep later. My point is I envy the inside cruisers.

I work to vacation. Since I try to vacation a lot, I have to go the least expensive way. I'm always on the look out for great deals. I am also a bit of a party girl, so I tend to sleep more in the mornings and take lots of naps in my cabin. I love not having ANY light in my cabin unless I choose to have it on. I will be bringing a nightlight for my inside cabin so that we can see to use the restroom but really? That's all that's needed, or cracking the restroom door with the light on. I did that on my last cruise but my cabinmate woke me up every time she went into the restroom since I'm SO sensitive to light, so I figure the nightlight will be perfect since there won't be any change to the amount of light.
