ladycaveat Posted July 2, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2010 As someone who cruises solo, I've always booked a 1A. January 2007 my son took me on a cruise to the Mexican Riviera on the Pride. Thanks to his military discount, we got to stay in a huge balcony suite. In September, I'll be on the Pride once again and have booked a 4K cabin. Has anyone ever stayed in one of these? What is it like . . . especially compared to a 1A (always booked early enough to get a 1A with either a window or port holes). I've been told that the 4K has a door that doesn't open. spencercoop Posted July 3, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 3, 2010 The 4K's have french doors that open. You will have no or a limited view of the water because there will be lifeboats in front of your cabin. It is a great cabin because you can get some fresh air for the price of an interior room. Here are some pictures: http://www.*****/view_room.php?r_id=242 http://www.*****/view_room.php?r_id=28050 http://www.*****/view_room.php?r_id=26939
UpstateCruizer Posted July 3, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 3, 2010 We've stayed in one on the Miracle and booked my son as a solo in the cabin next door. Ours had a great view between two life boats. His had a lifeboat right outside his cabin. Both doors opened for fresh air and light came into both cabins. I'd book this cabin category on every ship if they had them! We love having the sofa in the cabin and he loved his as well. We booked the exact same cabin for our next cruise in October! My favorite part beside the price is that the cabins are located on deck 4 and not one of the lower decks!
