Bus help needed from Villefrance to Eze

I have gotten myself confused regarding the best bus to take from Villefrance to Eze.

 

I thought the best was to take the 112, but the Nice CVB site says to take the 100 then transfer to the 83. Usually CVB sites suggest the easiest and most direct routes.

 

Is one better than the other?

 

Do they begin and end at different stops and one is more convenient than the other?

#112 runs along the Middle Road, #100 along the Coastal Road, so different stops for each. It would be a fairly exhausting climb to walk up to the Middle Road (a steep walk with 500+ steps), so #100 is the recommended bus, unless you are going to Nice first and then take #112 from there to Eze Village.

 

We caught #100 in Villefranche and transferred to #83 at Eze Bord du Mer. If you have the schedules and time it right, you can minimize the waiting time for #83, as it doesn't run nearly as frequently as #100.

 

To understand the roads, there are 3 parallel roads running between Nice and Monaco (and perhaps beyond):

 

Basse Corniche: Coastal Road

Moyenne Corniche: Middle Road

Grande Corniche: Highest Road

 

I found Rick Steves Provence and The French Riviera guidebook helpful for DIY touring in this area.

We just came back from Eze last week. The 100 is very easy to catch. There was about 45 minutes between getting off and the 83 to Eze Village. We went down to the beach for a few minutes before getting on the 83. Keep your ticket from the 100 because the transfer to the 83 is included!

You can also take the 100 bus in the direction of Monaco to Bieulieu and then transfer to the 83 up to Eze Village. there is also another bus-the 80 i believe from Nice to Eze Village-we took the train from Villefranche to Nice-spent the morning in Nice with the intention of getting to Eze by lunchtime-however the 112 had problems and didnt arrive in Nice at the Noon time-so we took the 80 at 1315-the noon 112 arrived in the terminal just as we were leaving. We spent our time in Eze-had lunch and then took the 83 to Bieulieu and the 100 back to Villefranche-we had intended to take the 83 to Eze Bord-du-Mer but it was late in the afternoon and the next time for it running in that direction was 1640-since the last tender was at 1715 we felt that was cutting it too close and took the 1530 83 down in stead.

According to the schedule when bus #83 leaves Eze Village, it goes to Eze bord du mer before Beaulieu, so both the 15:30 and 16:40 buses would have stopped in Eze bord du Mer and Beaulieu, but good thing you took the 15:30, because it would have been a mad dash to catch that last tender.:)

 

#82 is the other bus that runs between Nice and Eze Village.

Bus website To access the schedules, enter the bus route # in the white box beside "Line" at the right side of the page. #100 travels between Nice - Villefranche - Eze bord du Mer - Monaco, #112 between Nice - Eze Village - Monaco, and #83 from Eze bord due Mer - Eze Village.
