Cancellation Question

Recommended Posts

I don't know if this question has been asked before but I don't know the answer.

If 2 people are sharing a cabin and 1 person is unable to go on the cruise due to medical reasons. What happens to the other person?

The person who might not be able to go does have insurance.

There is a large group of us, so the single person would still want to come.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Donna

One other scenario....the one who does sail could be billed for both halves of the cabin and then seek reimbursement from the insurance, as well as the one cancelling seeking her own reimbursement. In Nov we had 3 cabins booked and my cabin-mates husband died 3 days before the cruise. I was told initially by my TA that the cruiseline could bill me as above or leave the billing as it was and for my friend to seek reimbursement for her cancellation.RCCL did not seek additional monies from me. Our insurance was thru RCCL and tho it was a pretty clear cut cancellation with the death certificate, it took over 8 weeks for my friend to receive a check.

I know that at least some travel insurance does cover the cost of the single supplement if a person must cancel due to a covered reason and the travel companion still chooses to take the cruise alone. How that is handled probably depends on whether or not you are within the penalty windows at the time of cancellation.
