Palma Excursion on day 1 of cruise ???

Hi sorry if this is a dumb question but when do you do the palma excursion ie the train thingy how does that work, when you get off the plane I presume there are thompson reps waiting to put you on a coach to the port then you check onto the ship so if you did want to do the Palma excursion as listed on the itinery on day 1 do you then get back off ship is there a time ect just a bit confussed how this works when everyone is checking in and getting into cabins ect thanks ???????????

Or sometimes if you have a late departure from some cruises, you can do a Thomson half-day excursion as long as you are back in good time for your transfer to the airport. But clearly that will only be available to passengers whose flights leave late afternoon/evening.

we are planning to do our own thing day 1 palma as we land early morning and the cruise doesn't leave till after 11pm. So plenty of time to checkin cabins etc, bite to eat, then off for the whole afternoon.:) Last time we saw a tour bus right next to the ship waiting for passengers.
