Need reccomendations for an itinerary if renting car in Toulon!

If you were crazy enough to rent a car for the day in Toulon (which actually will be La Seyne sur Mer) and wanted to tour around the area... visit some small towns, see the countryside, perhaps visit a winery...any itinerary suggestions. Oh, and I'll have to add that we will be there the first week in August! Thanks for the help!

We've decided to do the same thing and don't think it is crazy at all. We looked at all the ship's tours and did not find one exactly to our liking, so decided to strike out on our own. It is only an hour to Aix-au-Provence, which is the one place we are interested in seeing. Although we have a limited (8-4) port day, I feel very comfortable with a rental and a short road trip. I think out of the 12 days of our cruise, we have only reserved one ship tour. Map out good directions, use GPS and do your research. Driving in this part of the country is not difficult. Enjoy your adventure what ever you decide to do.
