Renting Car in Corsica - Driving Tour

We will be in Ajaccio for the day on Aug 15 and have a rental car reserved. Now we just need to decide where to go. Can anyone recommend a day long driving tour from Ajaccio. Would you recommend north toward Calvi, south toward Bonafacio, or east through the middle of the island. We are open and adventurous, just dont know where to go...
