journey0504 Posted February 9, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2005 We will be visiting PDC in May on our honeymoon. We are already booked with for the FATCAT during the day, but what is there exciting to do in the evenings? Any wild and crazy places like Carlo's and Charlies or laid back places where we can listen to calypso music and have a few drinks? Any suggestions will be great! CruiseH0GG Posted February 10, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 10, 2005 is a really happening place to kill some time and have a great time doing it. It is right beside the ferry pier in Playa del Carmen. We were there two years ago in April and had a blast! Lots of other cruisers there and a fun time was had by all.:)
Cheran Posted February 10, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 10, 2005 You'll find most of the nightlife located on 5th Avenue (La Quinta), which is a pedestrian street lined with bars, restaurants, shops, etc. There's a Carlos 'n Charlies at the south end of 5th Avenue, and a Senor Frog's adjacent to the pier in town. A great spot is the Dragon Bar at the Blue Parrot Hotel (Calle 12 on the beach) where you sit on swings hanging from the rafters rather than bar stools. A couple more are Pez Vela (Corner of 5th Ave and Calle 2, live bands) and Captain Tutix (Calle 4 on the beach, live bands). There are tons of smaller, more laid back bars on 5th too. If you haven't yet, I'd recommend buying a Playa del Carmen map from http://www.cancunmap.com. It costs $8, but you purchase it on the honor system: Order the map, they mail it to you, and then you send them $8 if you decide to keep it. It's an extremely detailed map showing locations of bars, restaurants, hotels, etc. We order one every time we go to Playa since things seem to change every year. I think they're sold out right now, but you can still place an order and they'll ship it to you when they get more printed (which looks like the beginning of March according to their website).
