Embark/Disembark on NCK Star in Vancouver

We are taking the train up from Seattle the morning of our departure out of Vancouver. We expect to be at the pier around noon. DH wants to board, eat lunch, then disembark to go see something close by (not sure what). Is this even possible? Is it possible to embark and disembark on the day of departure?

It is possible to embark the ship and then get off and walk around town, we did that in Quebec last year. When we returned to the ship we just showed our key card and walk right onboard.

However .... we took the Pearl out of Vancouver in May and it was the looooongest line we've ever waited in to embark. Everyone had to go through US customs before you could get in the NCL line to get processed by NCL to get on the ship (that part was quick). I'm guessing the US Customs part was because the next stop is in the US.

We also took the train from Seattle. I would suggest paying the extra $13 for 1st class on the train (you get $5 or so voucher for food). The train is packed with people going on the cruise ( > 150). 1st class gets off 1st and getting your luggage and going through Canadian customs and to a cab was very quick. Can't imagine what it was like when the other 100 people got off. It is a very nice, scenic train ride.

Maybe someone else can tell you what is around the cruise terminal. We just saw it as we were zipping by in the cab. Also, maybe someone can tell you if you would have to go through customs again.

Have a great cruise!
