wwinfl91 Posted July 25, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 25, 2010 HI all, We will be on the Royal Princess's 14 day Alaskan cruise starting Aug 16. We have signed up for a Princess tour. This one is in the afternoon in Seward and goes to Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise. It is tour ID SWD610A. Here's the description. Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise Journey into the heart of Kenai Fjords National Park to explore deep fjords and impressive amounts of wildlife. SCENIC CRUISING Watch for humpback whales, orcas, seabirds, sea lions, otters and other wildlife. Travel to the face of Aialik Glacier and witness the most active tidewater glacier in the park as it thunders into the sea. The trip is narrated by certified captains at the helm of the most modern fleet of vessels in the state. Enjoy a complimentary lunch onboard and keep track of your route on the flat-screen monitors displaying the map of the park. Has anyone been on this one on their cruise to Alaska and if so did you enjoy it. I will also probably post this on the Alaskan board to see what they have to say over there. Thanks and have a great next cruise.
CSloan Posted July 25, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 25, 2010 A few years ago we did a Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise, but it wasn't thru the cruise ship, so I'm not sure if it's the same one or not. It was a great excursion - delivered EVERYTHING that was promised.. lots of wildlife, up-close glacier viewing. Even fresh, warm cookies on the journey back. Here are some pics, if you want to see: Alaska Fjords pics.
Rare nu#1 Posted July 26, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 26, 2010 We went on that particular tour in June, best excursion we had on the entire trip. Lots of wildlife, birds, sea lions, humpback whales and even a bear! Getting up close to a glacier was nice too.
CruisinChris Posted July 26, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 26, 2010 We did this excursion independently some time ago! Fantastic!
swdke Posted July 26, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 26, 2010 Kenai Fjords National Park Cruises are a must when in Seward. I've been twice, both were 6 hr cruises. If the cruise is less than 6 hrs, you may not be able to see everything which includes going to glaciers to watch for calving, as well as marine life wildlife watching such as whales. Either way, when in Seward, it's the thing to do, and well worth it.
