basketballmom Posted February 9, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2005 Unfortunately, we will have to do a load of laundry when we sail. My questions are: 1) What is the cost per load? 2) Do the machines take quarters and/or bills? 3) What are the sizes of the machines? Once again....thank you for your help....everyone has been most helpful so far!
mnsawyer Posted February 9, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 9, 2005 Not sure on the Glory but on the Triumph the machines took quarters. We just got $10 worth of quarters at the casino. They are regular sized washers and dryers. You can purchase laundry detergent, etc., in a vending machine. Not sure how much each but maybe 1.50 per load - I think we used up most of the quarters on two loads of laundry plus detergent. There are two sets of each in the laundry room along with an iron and ironing board plus a big sink to wash out things if you choose. We always do laundry on cruises and love that it's on option - one of the reasons why I wouldn't sail RCCL! There is a laundry room on most every passenger floor
I&MsMom Posted February 9, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 9, 2005 I did laundry on the Glory several times (two small children....) I seem to recall it was $2 for wash and $2 for the dryer (although you got almost an hour - unlike Disney where $2 buys 30 min....) The machines only took quarters, which I had brought from home. Also brought the individual sample size detergent and fabric softener I had received with my new machine but had never used. So, I don't know how much the detergent is on the ship (have used up all my samples, so I'll find out on the next cruise!) The machine sizes are "normal" - not quite as big as the one at home, but not small either. FYI: laundry rooms are located at 8351, 7339 and 6387 (we were on the Empress deck, so I just noted those on our floor and one up and one down.) They are all starboard, mid-ship. I got the room numbers from a thread here, if you need other floors. I was concerned the machines would be busy, but I never had a problem. I found doing laundry to be no problem and will definitely pack lighter next trip.
JrMafia90 Posted February 9, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 9, 2005 They were about normal size and I think it would cost about $2.00 I'm not that sure, it's been a couple of months! ;)
dawnrae Posted February 9, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2005 My son did laundry on the Glory in January. I believe it was $2 to wash and $2 to dry. He used my casino quarters. He had a bunch of jeans and had no problem drying everything. We were a couple of cabins down from the laundry room on the Empress deck. Very convenient. Enjoy your trip. Lisa766 Posted February 10, 2005 #6 Share Posted February 10, 2005 Just off the glory and they had it on our floor and we were on the 2nd floor.
basketballmom Posted February 10, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted February 10, 2005 I also plan on bringing my samples along. Now if we can just learn to pack light! Don't want to go over the 50lb. weight limit for the airlines!
LornaT Posted February 10, 2005 #8 Share Posted February 10, 2005 Was on the Legend in December and I think they are all priced the same. Detergent (Tide & Cheer) and Fabric Softener (Downey) were $1.00 each and the Washer and Dryer were $2.00 each. Was on the Glory in December 2003 and the deck 6 laundry room had 4 washers and 6 dryers (better then Legend deck 6 laundry room 0 2 washers, 4 dryers). You can always get rolls of quarters from the Casino. L
Scotch Posted June 18, 2005 #9 Share Posted June 18, 2005 Did you guys hang around in the wash room for your laundry to be done? Just wondering if anyone had concerns about someone taking your clean laundry.
Jenna1983 Posted June 18, 2005 #10 Share Posted June 18, 2005 Quarters, $2, $2, and you can fit a lot of adult clothing in the washer & dryer LOL I left the laundry there. If you're on Empress, good luck with keeping those suckers in service. It took all day to get someone to fix 2 that broke. Then some guy had to come in and wash his suit, which he left in for a while.

Just wondering if anyone had concerns about someone taking your clean laundry. I don't think that you will have a problem with someone taking your clothes but I have seen people take clothes out of a washer or dryer when people leave them there for a long time.
