Weather in August on Mediterranean cruise

We are sailing August 15 on Oceania Nautica from Barcelona to Istanbul. What kind of weather should I expect? Does it normally rain a lot/not much? Is the temperature normally a "humid hot" or a "dry hot"? I live in Louisiana so trying to ascertain if I should expect "more of the same" or a more temperate climate. Thanks for any help on this!

Hi Marmc2

Jean and I are on the same cruise and I invite you to join the Oceania Boards Roll Calls covering our trip. Go to the bottom of the page and scroll to Oceania Roll Calls/Nautica and find ours there.

It will be from Very Hot to EXTREMELY hot. 85 - 95 plus in Turkey.

Although those temps qualify as extremely hot in Britain, they are quite average in Louisiana (particularly in August), so the original poster can simply expect more of the same.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my post! We are traveling with 2 other Louisiana couples and are excited about the trip! Yes, sounds like we are in for "more of the same" weather-wise. Luckily, we have the clothes for that kind of weather. It's 100 degrees most days here during August. Hope to meet some of you when we sail.

Just remember that shorts and halters are not considered proper attire for most European and Middle Eastern cities and their sights. They'll be great however on the islands. Enjoy your cruise.:)
