Complete So America cruise luggage

If you took the whole So America cruise and Regent arranged for some luggage to be transfered from your home and return, how was it handled when you returned to Ft Lauderdale.

Did Regent just take care of it on the ship or did you have to find it after leaving the ship and take it to their agent who would arrange the transfer home?

When we went to Alaska last year we used LuggageFree.com. Regent uses them when Regent includes luggage shipping on longer cruises.

They came to the house and pick up the luggage. Didn't see it til we arrived at suite.

They are not cheap but they sure did the job.

Our Butler took the luggage the last day of the cruise and it arrived the same day we got home.

We have been on 3 long Regent cruises where luggage pick up and delivery was included as a perk. It is very easy...they come to your home approximately 1 week ahead of time (they schedule pick up with you) and the next time you see your luggage is in your suite.

A couple of days before you disembark they will begin gathering luggage you've packed and store it. On the day of disembarkation you claim your luggage to insure it's all there and the shipping company takes it from there. It will be delivered back to your home in approximately 4 days. It is a WONDERFUL perk and perfect for long cruises. We fly home with just a smaller carry on with essentials/jewelry. While on the long cruise, there is a large storage room so you don't need to try to fit it all under your bed.

You will likely be allowed 4 pieces of luggage per person shipped, no limit as to size but each piece can not exceed 70 lbs.

Thank you both.

We used the LuggageFree service on our own for a Regent cruise that ended in Sydney, Australia and had a very long and difficult time finding the person who would take our luggage to LuggageFree.

While we are expecting better when arrive in Ft Lauderdale on next year's So. America cruise I was hoping that we wouldn't have to even find when we went ashore.

Just giving it the butler and walk away with only our carry on would be very nice!

Stew300, it should be a lot easier on your SoAm trip as most of the passengers will be using this service rather than when you did it independently on your own. It is important that YOU make sure all of your luggage is accounted for and turned over to Luggage Free. Not a job for a butler.

You will have a fabulous trip around SoAm. It was one of our favorite itineraries!

When you arrive at most ports, you have to claim your luggage yourself and clear customs. In Ft. Lauderdale, the LuggageFree was just outside the custom area and very easy to do.

In Rio earlier this year, we did have some problem figuring out where to leave our luggage. We had been told that the Executive conceirge would take of it, but we could not find him. We ended up leaving a sign on our luggage with the help of one of the Excursion Desk staff in the luggage claim area. It arrived safely home but I worried until it arrived!

When you use this service can you give them a delivery date to your home? We are going on a lengthy cruise and will likely extend at the destination for at least 2 weeks. Wonder whether LuggageFree has a US terminal where they store until delivery at a specified date?? Thanks for the help.
