Still a little confused about Carnival Fun points

I'm still a little confused about how to apply my Carnival Fun Points. If I want to use them towards tips or OBC for my upcoming cruise what is the best way to do it? I know you can go on Barclay website and use it towards a 50 or 100.00 OBC but then how does that work exactly? Will they apply that amt. to my sail and sign card and then I pay it off when I get back on my credit card? I would like to do it however I can in order to still get points while using those points if possible so how do I apply the points to do that? Thanks for any help.
