Miami resident? Where to view NCL Epic?

We are driving down to Miami on Saturday to see the Epic, does anyone know of a good place to view the ships other than on the causeway? We've only gone down there to see the ships but I seem to recall a beach toward the end of the canal? Would like to park and take pictures on either a beach or even a restaurant.
