Conquest, Long Gowns or Cocktail dresses?

What are women wearing more of, long gowns or a cocktail dress on formal nights, & are they wearing them on other nights too!

Plan to go the Pointe, but am so thinking of doing a cocktali dress, ( my mother offered me her long white gloves from her crusing days, 42, not going to happen), will that be fine?

Although it was well over a year ago since I've been on the Conquest, I do remember a pretty equal mixture of both shorter cocktail dresses and long gowns. I think either are perfectly acceptable!
