RedLightVegas Posted August 2, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2010 We went back and fourth on doing a last minute cruise and we finally decided on the Destiny. Going October 9th, to Ocho Rios and Grand Cayman. If anyone has any pictures or anything of the boat that would be cool! I've heard time and time again that this boat is old and tired, but we're giving it a shot regardless. The price and timing was perfect.
sharecruises Posted August 2, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2010 Most of the RECENT reviews have been very positive I was on Destiny last year *(labor day)...and had a great time Ship was very pretty, decor has a lot of neon and copper metallic, maybe not the "newest" look, but really pretty and food was great then Destiny had some propulsion problems in the winter, some bad reviews missed ports etc...it also had some "wear and tear" ..notably a broken sliding door on Lido, pictures were posted here However, it went into a (forced) dry dock and the propulsion problem was FIXED and apparently some more repairs done to things, ie, broken door, etc so now it is shipshape and mostly good reviews One thing I did find (and others complain of ) is that Destiny Lido buffet gets longer lines cause it lacks some of the "extra" food places that the newer Conquest Class ships have, notably the upstairs fish and chips It is still a great ship, and really the "best" bet for a 4 or 5 night cruise that I have seen. buddylover Posted August 2, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2010 We sailed her in December 09 amidst all the propulsion issues......had a wonderful cruise and would go on her in a minute again. The ship was in GREAT shape, no notable difference between Destiny and any other ships we have been on recently....very clean, and as up to date looking as the other ships in the fleet. Each ship has its own theme and color scheme, but all have neon and a "glitzy" Vegas look, which we happen to enjoy.....feels like we're on vacation. Enjoy your cruise....it will be wonderful! We too just booked a last minute cruise on the Destiny / same ports. Can you give a full review when you get back?
