Shore snorkeling or go on a boat?

We have been in Chakannaub park years ago. I know there were a lot of fish, but nothing that impressive.

 

I know there are shore snorkeling tours, also boat to go to coral reef. I was just wondering if it is a big different to take the boat instead of stay on shore?

 

BTW, we are going there in two weeks.

Personally I think the boat trips are better. The reefs seem to be much healthier and the boat ride is usually pretty nice as well.
