A heads up to anyone who has booked through 1800HOTELS.

I was just informed they have declared bankruptcy as of July 14 so anyone, like me, who booked and paid for their reservation is SOL. I contacted the hotel in BCN I had reserved and they had no reservation nor had they been paid (I booked and paid on June 18). They are now back in business with Expedia Affiliate Network. They will not honor or pay back anyone who booked before July 14. I was informed I had to file a claim with a Florida court to get in line.

If you paid by credit card you may want to contact your credit card company. Folks on our September 4th roll call on Jewel ran into the same problem.

I already have the credit card company working on it so hopefully they can correct it. I just want to keep anyone else from using them and getting taken. Live and learn.

me too :( American Express put a dispute on the $812.84 I'd paid for a hotel in Sydney next month and I sent off the paperwork to the FL bankruptcy court and now I sit back and wait I guess. I rebooked the same hotel directly with Holiday Inn (at a higher rate than I had, but still lower than the current rate on their website). Still, unless I get my money back I've gone from about $160 a night room to a $350 a night room

I usually do always book directly with hotels and airlines but the deal on 1800hotels was just too good to pass up. I guess you know what "they" say, if it seems too good to be true...

I had used 1800hotels before and hadn't had a problem. However, from now on I will only book hotels directly. My paper work was mailed to Fl bankruptcy court too. I had 2 reservations....pre-cruise and post-cruise. You are right ...very expensive hotel but could have been worse . Won't put a damper on my Med cruise though...making lemonade.
