Canadian and US customs

I am Canadian and I disembark in Miami and will have to go through US customs there... am i correct to think that any purchases i make in San Juan (including liquor) I will not have to pay duty on until I clear Canadian Customs? My thinking behind this is that San Juan is connected to the USA. Am I correct.

You are correct. We've never had to declare anything to US officials, only to the Canada Customs once returning home.

 

The US customs people have always considered us to be "in transit".

thank you, i have figured out how to get all the liquor through CDN customs, got to love all my US friends that come visit all the time. :D I will be buying more than a few bottles LOL :cool:
