San Juan on a Wed. from 7am to 3:30pm what to see and do

Hi all - we are on our first cruise and will be in San Juan from 7am to 3:30pm on a Wed. We enjoy culture, trying different food and getting out of the tourist trap areas and seeing the island by a locals eyes. Any suggestions on where and what to see. We like the concept of island jumping so we can see if we would return for more than a couple of hours.

We will be there on a Wednesday as well in a few weeks. I am still a little stumped by what to do as well. I think we'll make our way leisurely off the ship and do some shopping and see the forts, and hopefully find a place with authentic Puerto Rican food for lunch. I have no plans to get up early and rush off the ship LOL.
