Hi,

Has anyone used Rome Connections for a tour when in Italy. I have heard that they are quite good. I am travelling with my husband and my teenage son, so any advice about their service and costs would be good.

Hi J.

I haven't used this company but I did arange a private limo tour for 3 adults in Jan. this year.

I used a fantastic company called MB Tours Rome owned by Mabrizio-who provided us with an absolutely amazing sevice.

Mabrizio was great at responding to my enquiries and got back to me within a few hours( sometimes- within a few mins- even late at night!!)

Our driver Marco met us right at the gangway and escorted us to a "top of the range" Mercedes parked about 20 feet away.

We were out of the docks and on our way to Rome whilst everyone else was still waiting to be directed to coaches etc.

Marbrizio will arrange and personlise the tour to suit you and he can also arrange tickets to all the major sites at a lower cost than buying on the day at the site and the great thing was - not having to wait in queues- we were led straight to the head of the line an in we went-- saved loads of time!!!

I also told mabrizio that I didnt use Credit cards and he was great about it-- told me just to pay Marco either at the beginning or end of the tour.

We also saved ALOT of cash by not hiring a guide as the drivers knew so much about the city and love telling everyone all the history etc.

After seeing just about everything we had requeste Marco took us to some plaes we hadn't even heard of ---ie Church of Santa Sabine in the hills of the Rome-- absolutely beautiful!! We saw were Mussollini was executed after the war and even where Sophia Loren lives.

Our driver also took us to an amazing little coffee housse near the coloseum where we had the bst coffee and paninnis ever and we had a late lunch in a grea family run restaurant near the Vatican-- outstanding!!

Starters /mains/ wine & juices 3 adults- less than 30 Euros including tip!!!!

On the way back to the ship mum and I were exhausted and as we lounged in the back - DH and marco put the world to rights discussing football/Italian Politics and about a dozen other subjects.

Wh were dropped right back at the gangway and Marco gave us some little gifts and postcard books of Rome as a momento of our trip. We parted with hugs and handshakes & Marco stood waving until we were fully on board & out of sight.-- felt as if we were leaving an old friend behind!!!

Back home I received a lovely e-mail from Mabrizio- checking that evrything was ok with car/ driver/ itinerery and that we had enjoyed our time in Rome.

I paid 300Euros and can honestly say it was the best money ever spent on a tour. (attraction tickets were extra but about 20% cheaper than buying them ourselves)

Ps If you do contact Mabrizio - please pass our best wishes to him & his family as well as Marco!!!

Hi :)

Sorry--- just one thing about the above info.

I entered the wrong price -- it should read 400E. not 300E for January.

It was still outstanding value and I wouldn;t hesitate to use MB tours again.
