Saint John hop on and off bus

Recommended Posts

Hi We are in our 70,s and are not great walkers, should we take a taxi to reversing falls and walk to town from ship or take a taxi to town? Or should we take the hop on and off bus and does the bus go to the cruise port. I tried following a thread to see the bus route but could not get it. Also does it get crowed at low and high tide if so how early should we be there, last question is it worth going to the restaurant and watching the reversing falls if so do they take reservations. thanks in advance

In Saint John your ship docks right in the center of the city, so there is no need to take a cab. As for Reversing Falls, I do not recommend it unless you are going on one of the thrill rides (Zip Lining and Jet Boat) as I don't think it's worth the trip. It's a misnomer - they are more rapids then anything. What I do recommend is exploring the historic area where the ship docks known as Trinity Royal. Specifically, the Old City Market, Barbour's General Store, Trinity Church on Germain Street and the old architechure of Prince William Street. If you do not wish to walk, there are rickshaws for hire outside of the cruise terminal. The hop on hop off bus leaves right from the cruise terminal. Keep in mind these are vintage London RouteMaster double decker buses, so there will be steps to climb. If you are looking for a nice restaurant, there are a lot of wonderful restaurants in the uptown area as opposed to Reversing Falls. Billy's Seafood at the top end of the City Market is well recommended. Church Street Steakhouse is excellent also. Many of the restaurants are located in beautiful historic buildings.
