blondie1234 Posted August 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2010 What is there to do in the immediate area outside the port in Greenock and Invergordon? Are the towns nearby? Shops, etc. within walking distance? What are the towns themselves like?
LilMissK Posted August 14, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2010 If you dont want to do an excursion from greenock, then you can just go a wander into the town centre.. Theres a shopping centre (not a particularly big one though...). Theres also a cinema and a leisure complex place if you want to go ice-skating or something... Or theres a small museum and art gallery (http://www.museumsgalleriesscotland.org.uk/member/mclean-museum-and-art-gallery ) Theres also a small castle in Port Glasgow (5 mins in a taxi), called Newark Castle. Apparently when you dock at greenock theres usually a group of local volunteers giving info on the local area... Just found this; http://www.inverclydetouristgroup.co.uk/images/interface/upload/ITGSeeAndDo.pdf

loopyloo33 Posted August 14, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 14, 2010 Yes there is a small shopping centre in Greenock which you could probably do in an hour. Invergordon is just a handful of shops not any big shops or brands. There are buses into Inverness )not sure of the timetable) which is much better for shopping
