NCL Sun handicapped Balcony cabins

Recommended Posts

Anyone ever stay in one of these cabins on the Sun? We have been assigned to one on deck 8 and are looking for info or pics. Tried the diabled board with no luck.

Thanks

What kind of information do you need? I've not stayed in that particular cabin, but in general:

handicap accessible cabins are larger than the regular cabins in that class, to allow room for someone to move through the room in their wheelchair or scooter.

There is no step up into the bathroom. Sometimes the floor is level, sometimes there is a small incline.

There is usually a shower (not a tub), with a shower seat, a hand-held shower wand, and lots of extra grab bars. If you're not really careful, it's easy to flood your room, as the water can run out and down that incline into your cabin! So be careful.

The toilet is raised, and again, there are more grab bars. The sink is free-standing, to allow someone in a chair to move under the sink. This will mean that there will likely be fewer shelves in the bathroom to store your stuff. Sometimes the mirror above the sink can be tilted (again, so someone in a chair can use it).

There will be a red cord hanging down, sometimes alongside the toilet -- don't pull the cord unless you want company! :o It's an emergency call button: should someone fall in the bathroom, pulling the cord will notify the crew, and they'll come running to assist.

Often there won't be a couch in the cabin. Those of us with mobility issues find couches difficult to get out of..and they take up space..so they're not usually in these cabins. You can ask the steward if one is available..sometimes they'll be able to move it back in, if you want it.

Otherwise, it'll be much like any other cabin of that class.
