LGA to JFK with long layover

The cheapest way for us to get to Amsterdam for a transatlantic cruise next year is to fly one way to LGA on a domestic airline then go to JFK for a Icelandair flight. These are on seperate tickets.

 

The big downside is that the flight gets to LGA around 9am and the flight out of JFK doesn't leave until almost 9pm!!!

 

I assume I probably can't even check in at JFK until 4ish.

 

Any idea what to do for that amount of time??

Rent a day room at a nice airport hotel, take a nap, rent a movie, take a shower before your flight.

 

I'm assuming you have a very early flight out which means getting up early etc. I can promise that you will not get any sleep on your transatlantic unless you have a FC flat bed.

 

You don't want to arrive in Amsterdaam with two nights of no sleep.
