Mayan Ruins Tour

We are taking a trip to Belize City in January 2011 and are wanting to see the Mayan ruins. We are also seeing Costa Maya and Cozumel. Is this the best port of the 3 to see the ruins and what is a good tour (third party tour, NOT Royal Caribbean tour) to see these?

 

There are 2 of us and we don't want anything TOO pricey and are ok if it is a long tour as long as it's not +6hours.

The tours to Tulum from Cozumel are very long and you'd need to take a ship's tour to ensure you get back to your ship before it sails without you. In Belize, Altun HA is a very nuce site and a tour can be done via a private compnay without taking an extra long time. Search this board for reviews and pictures and tour guide recs. There are bigger sites in Belize but unless you take a ships excursion they are not close by the port. In Costa Maya, there too you have a longer journey but NAtive Choice gives an excellent tour of a coupel of different sites. Go to the Costa Maya board and l;ook up some of their reviews or google their website.
