Norwegian Star - Spinnaker is Gone.... Where else do you go for outside views?

Hopefully this will not be the case! The forward looking lounges are so much of why I enjoy cruising and I am always sad to hear of yet more ships losing them.

Just a note that even if a thread is old it still may have relevance, so thanks for bringing this one back to life. I feel that the topic is still relevant.

I have to say I am very disappointed with the current trend of newer, bigger, ships that seem to have less viewing areas of the ocean than the smaller ships.

seems kinda silly to call the Norwegian Gem a "smaller" ship, but it sure felt that way when I was on it. One of the pleasures was able to find quiet spots like the spinnaker lounge simply to just relax, read a book, and look out on the ocean. On the breakaway, I was hard pressed to even find a window anywhere to look out in the public areas.

I will not consider a ship with over 3000 guests that doesn't have huge public areas indoors with a view (and at least 3 banks of elevators)

I agree with you, having areas on the ship where you can sit, read a book and enjoy a view of the ocean are, for me, key elements of cruise. The mega ships do seem to designed to get you to focus inwards and for some that may be what they enjoy, but I look for ships which allow me to enjoy the outward views.
