Doge's palace camera and bag size allowed

Has anyone recently visited the Doge's palace and what did you do if you had a camera and a camera bag..large sized because of telephoto lenses.... Were you allowed to carry them with you or did they have to be checked. If you had to check them what was your level of comfort with their security?
