annecolorgreen Posted August 25, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2010 Help! I bought a snorkel set and tried it out in my pool. No problem with the mask/snorkel but the fins are cutting in to my feet and causing my toes to cramp! Any ideas? Should I rent equipment for snorkeling when we go to Hawaii??? Should I just rent fins? Are there any fins that won't hurt my feet? Ideas please!!! Thanks, Anne

Murrhers Posted August 27, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 27, 2010 Either the socks or some diving boots, the kind that have a soft sole and go to the ankle. Also good for walking on rocky beaches. I got mine at a dive shop for $35 and they saved my feet on a Curacao beach.
baldercash Posted September 4, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 4, 2010 We use Alpha fins http://www.swim2000.com/product/aquasphere-alpha-fins/ they float and will not chaff, they are made of the same soft material as crocs. They do not place the same amount of stress on your joints like full size fins so you can swim longer without the risk of cramping if you are not used to using fins. Since they are not a full size fin they are very easy to pack. I can swim free style while snorkeling which allows me to cover long distances fast. You can swim out to the dive boats and beyond with ease if you are a competent swimmer. Here is a link to socks for flippers. http://www.swim2000.com/product/speedo-neo-socks-for-fins/
