Question about the Celebration

We are going on the celebration for our 10 yr anniversary. This is our first cruise, and the first vacation we have had together. We promised when we got married that we would take a cruise for our 10yr. I picked the celebration because the port is within driving distance and we would be on the cruise on our anniversary day. I have seen good and bad reports about the celebration, and I want to make sure my dw is gonna have a good time. Can anyone tell me if I made a good choice?

My family of 5 took our first cruise on Celebration a few years ago and loved it. Even though the ship is not all that new, it was constantly being painted, cleaned and looked very well taken care of. The people were friendly and it was a great first cruising experience for us. We aren't that well-traveled as many on these boards, (we just booked our 4th cruise on Valor, 7/17/05), but they've all been on Carnival and we've always had a blast. Good luck and have fun. Marcia

I think you made an excellent choice in taking your first cruise on Celebration. My family took our first (for all but DW) cruise on Celebration. IMHO you won't go wrong as a first cruiser. The ship is small enough to find yourway around in just a few trips out and about. The staff was excellent and the food was great. Celebration has everything the larger ships have in the way of clubs, spa, casino and things to do. Jacksonville is an easy port to get in and out of. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Just keep checking the boards for suggestions, we learned so much before we sailed and ask questions.

Happy sailing and happy anniversary.:)

We're taking a cruise, also on the Celebration, during the first week of October. We've sailed on The Ecstasy (her sister ship) and don't feel that we missed a thing. None of our family has cruised before, either....in my opinion bigger is not always better. I think that you made a good choice...have a great time.

My family of four took our first cruise on the Celebration on 1/15 and it was fantastic! Jaxport is a breeze to get through. The Celebration is a great old ship in great shape. . .plenty to do, the food was great and the ship was easy to navigate. You will have a wonderful time!!!

We sailed on the Celebration when it was sailing out of Galveston and had a wonderful cruise. The ship is small by today's standards, but is still in really good condition. We sailed on it not long after it's refurb. and it looked great. The mattresses were super comfortable, the food and entertainment were very good and the crew were wonderfully friendly and good at their jobs. There are a lot of Celebration fans on this board. I think you made a great choice for your first cruise. It was our 8th cruise and we still loved it! Have a great cruise.

We sailed the Celebration in 2001 out of Galveston and it was my husbands 2nd cruise, the first being on the Destiny in 98 and we were hoping for at least a decent time on this older ship...blah...blah...blah...Well we had 10 times more fun on the Celebration than we ever had on the Destiny and the crew was 100percent better...a smoother ride than the Destiny...you name it ...it was just better all the way around...almost makes me want to only book the smaller older ships, but hubby wants to go on Conquest next year....but trust me you are going to love the Celebration!!!!!
