We are going on our 3rd Oceania cruise 6/21/11 and want to find out information about private excursions in St. Petersburg, Berlin and any of the other Baltic ports. Anyone have thoughts about the best companies?

We were on the Regatta's Scandinavian Splendors cruise nearly one year ago and had several terrific guides.

For Warnemunde, check out "Friends of Dave" for a walking tour of Warnemunde, train to Wismar and walking tour of that historic town. We had a group of 9 and it was a terrific day with the genial Dave.

For Gdansk, we used Andrew Falkowski for a tour first to Stutthof Concentration Camp and then to Gdansk for a walking tour of the old town and a stop at the shipyards. His vehicle can take 6 people at least - not sure if he can accommodate more.

For St. Petersburg, do check out the ports of call. There are 3 or 4 very good companies with excellent itineraries. The guides seem to be interchangeable among companies so it'll all come down to what itinerary and pricing structure suits you best.

Just back from this year's Baltic Treasures and loved the itinerary! We booked a two day tour with Alla in St. Petersburg and found it to be very good. There is a lot of ground to cover and it was a record breaking 100 when we were there, so the only negative is that the van's a/c was struggling, but then they aren't used to that type of heat. We had a 14 passenger van I think, so maybe a smaller group would mean a smaller vehicle (but more expensive of course) with better a/c :). In Gdansk we used toursinpoland.com and they were excellent. We went to Stutthof in the morning and then toured the city in the afternoon, also stopping to see the Solidarity monument. I would have preferred more time in Gdansk, but the camp is quite far out of town and traffic is awful. We decided not to go all the way to Berlin and took a train to see Schwerin independently. Beautiful castle and a cute town, pretty easy to get to. All other ports we did by ourselves, which is easy to do on this itinerary.

We are also on the 6/21/11 cruise and using SBP tours. Looking to fill a group for Berlin Classic Tour.
