With all the storm news I am a little worried obout our cruise. We are sailing out of San Juan on Oct. 22 and didnt purchase insurance for our cruise. We have already made final payment and were wondering if it is too late to get insurance. If its not to late what will be covered? If they cancel all air travel into San Juan due to a storm would insurance cover us? Thanks for your help:(

Talk to your travel agent. Can likely still insure your whole trip at this point and look for a policy with good cancellation/interruption coverage.

You may want to consider contacting an on-line insurance provider rather than your TA or cruise company. There are several good ones on line who could advise you about the whole range of the insurance companies they represent. A couple of sites to get you started (I have no financial interest in either one): http://www.insuremytrip.com and http://www.tripinsurancestore.com (the one I like). There are others out there. Maybe someone else will add to this list.

I think that you can purchase insurance up until your cruise. I have purchased it two days before one of my cruises. You just won't be covered for prexsisting conditions.

It's definitely not too late to purchase insurance and insuremytrip.com is an excellent source. Most travel insurance includes coverage for pre-existing conditions if purchased within ten days to two weeks of initial deposit. If purchased after that, pre-existing conditions are usually excluded but otherwise coverage is the same.

I'm glad you asked this question, op, I've been thinking the same thing. However, when I go to these websites there is a dizzying array of choices presented. Help! So all of you experienced folks tell me ..... What would be the most important insurance line item if one was primarily worried about the flight into puerto Rico (as stated by the op)
