brego Posted February 14, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2005 We will be sailing on HAL with stops in the Grand Cayman and Cozumel. My mother is recently disabled and in a wheelchair, although she can walk for short distances. Any ideas for shore excursions for her in these ports? Splinter Posted February 15, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2005 I assume she can get into a cab. How about a bus? If she can get into a bus, then I would recommend that you consider taking a ship's "slow walker" tour and take a manual wheelchair with you. If you want to take a cab, I would recommend Chankanaab Marine Park. There is a nice level botanical garden, a nice beach (with bathrooms and changing areas), and underwater snorkeling trail and a "Swim with Dolphin's" feature. It offers a lot to both active and less active tourists, and the cab ride there will be less than $10. You can also do some shopping in town before getting back on the ship. In Grand Caymen, Stingray City would be a good trip, or a trip to Seven Mile Beach. Shopping is big here, but don't expect much in the way of bargins....prices are high. judyzoo Posted February 24, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2005 Be aware that Grand Cayman is a tender port (and I think that some ships may also tender at Cozumel), so you want to be sure that your mother will be able to board the tender.
