Zoning out Posted September 13, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 13, 2010 My wife and I will be on the 13 day Oct 16 sailing RT from NY and we have some questions that I hope someone can help with. Perhaps someone out there was on a New England cruise last year...... Is the buffet or an alternate free venue other than the dining room open for dinner? Is there a charge for coffee or Iced tea at meals or at other times? What is the price of domestic beer by the can on board vs the $3.35 (14 for $47)in a precruise package? the price of soft drinks on board vs the $2.06 (14/$29) precruise package? Is the tip surcharge of $12/person/day adjustable for cause? Is a gratuity added to beverage purchases on board? Are the beverage packages that are available precruise also available on the ship? Are there any spa/massage packages on board (don't see any precruise) What is the fee (if any) for using the wi-fi service or computer terminals? What is the ID number requested on the preboard checkin? Are coffee pots available in the balcony cat 10 cabins? What kind of minimum bets are standard in the casino? Any penny or nickel slots? Thank you for your help.
camofwilliamsburg Posted September 13, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 13, 2010 I will try to answer as many of your questions: The buffet is open for dinner on all nights BUT the gala nights. The options for that night is dining room or room service. The room service menu is free up until midnight I believe then a surcharge. The meal consists of soup, salad choice, fruit platter, sandwich( tuna on a hamburger bun and potato chips), dessert. After the buffet closes and from 6:30 to 9 PM ( might be later) is the pizza, italian style and delicious...much different from the square pizza on the buffet line in the afternoons. There is no charge for coffee and if you like it more american style you have to ask for it. It is strong italian coffee if you do not ask for the american. I loved their coffee but asked for half full cup and then MILK! Iced tea is avail at any time in any meal period. The prices must have gone up slightly since I cruised a year ago. The beer package saved us about 25 cents on each beer, being $3 with the package and 3.25 without. The tip surcharge is adjustable but pls be aware that there are a lot of behind the scene people working hard for the tips that you leave them, not just the ones you see serving you. But you can adjust by percentage if you need to. I do know that there are spa packages with the spa people standing outside of the spa area. That should not be hard for you to book. Yes there is a fee for internet. I think it is a 15$ surcharge, refundable when you turn it back in for the cable. Then there are packages for minutes. I think the ID number for the online check in is your booking number. NO coffee pots in the cabins. I do not recall seeing penny slots in the casino. The casino is smaller than on other ships but there is plenty of stuff to do in there.
