What should we do?

Hello: We are a 31 and 29 year old couple hoping to make the most of our honeymoon experience this October when we cruise out of San Juan and stop at port of calls, (in order) St. Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, and lastly, St. Maarten. We will be flying in on Saturday and staying at Marriott Stellos. We want to be adventures/trying new things like zip lining, snorkeling, horseback riding, etc..., and would like to relax some as well. What would be a good itenary mix of excursions and relaxing ideas? We are curious if anyone had thoughts on most sees and when great times/ports are great to relax at? Everyone's thoughts are appreciated.

I have only been to two of your ports, but my suggestions for them would be:

St. Maarten - extreme zip line tour at Loterie Farms, late lunch and shopping in Marigot and then Maho Beach for a cocktail and watch the jumbo jets land right over the beach.

St. Thomas - either relax at Magens Bay for the day or charter a sailing trip to St. John and have a relaxing sail and snorkel at a spot or two.

I am visiting each of your other ports (except St. Lucia) on a trip in December!

Have fun!

We got married and took our honeymoon on this same itinerary..and I just turned 30 and didn't die of exhaustion! LOL Here's what we did:

St Thomas - BOSS (underwater scooters, booked through the ship)

Dominica - River tubing (booked through Wacky Rollers)

Barbados - We got married here so that's about all we did :D

St. Lucia - Cosol's tour (info on the port of call board, but an island tour consisting of stops at the sulphur springs, banana fields, and the beach to name a few)

We didn't have St. Kitts and St. Maarten as stops on our cruise. We went to Antigua and had one sea day instead. :) I've heard that St. Maarten is good for a beach day.

Hope this helps a little.

Dominica-river tubing-my first time tubing and I loved it

St Lucia-Cosol tour-best excursion I have even been on in 32 cruises

Barbados-relaxing beach day @ Malibu Rum Factory (take a taxi) our taxi driver set up a time to come back and get us and didn't expect us to pay til he picked us up and returned us to the ship-that was a first.

St Thomas-if you like shopping this is place to do it-also beautiful beaches

St Kitts-we had orginally booked the Fantasea excursion but by the time we got to St Kittss we were exhausted (getting old does that) so we cancelled and did the 2hr short tour which was really nice and informative. The people we spoke with that did do the Fantasea thought it was great

St Marteen-Orient Beach:)-the nude beach ok just kidding

St. Marteens: Orient Beach is supposed to be a nudist beach, but families can probably safely go there. Its far from the port on the other side of the island, dutch side? (you port on the french side or we did on princess).

St. Thomas: We went to Coki Beach and hung with the locals. There was a shooting near the road close to Coki Beach, where a tourist was in the way and got shot and killed, so people are a little scared now of the area. We snorkeled for $10 including fish food and they never charged anything for chairs or anything.

What day do you leave for your cruise?

In St Martin (French Side) we went horseback riding through Bayside Riding Club http://www.baysideridingclub.com/ . What a fantastic experience, riding through a beautiful, mountainous nature preserve that takes you to a very secluded white sand beach where you can go in the water with your horse if you choose. We got some of the best pictures from our trip that day. We booked a morning ride which lasted about an hour. Then we headed over to the Dutch side to swim at Maho Beach and watch the planes come in. We rented a car, which can be rented right at the cruise terminal.

Congratulations and good luck with your upcoming wedding.

I did that for my honeymoon too and I can tell you I thought St Lucia was the most beautiful tropical place I have ever been! We did a sail boat thing that took use over by the twin petons. We went to a plantation and a few other places. Then back on the boat to a beach. It was amazing!

For St Thomas look up:

http://godfreydiscounttours.com St Thomas VI

You can get it all. Shopping, island tour, choice of 3 beaches. He is very accomodating. We had one person that had some jewelry being modified but wanted to go to the beach also. He picked up the jewelry for that person while they were at the beach. Very reasonable cost.

We LOVED zip lining through the rain forest in St. Lucia. The gondola ride up and down the mountain was beautiful as a side note. We have been to St. Thomas 4 or 5 times and have always taken the excursion to St. John. It is the most beautiful beach in the world and very secluded and peaceful. No commercialism in St. John.

We did this itinerary two years ago and loved it!

Like a few other posters, I'd also recommend river tubing in Dominica and Cosol's tour in St. Lucia.

For St. Thomas, I'd highly recommend Papa Bear's island tour.

In Barbados, we snorkeled with the sea turtles and loved it. We did this on our own by bringing our own snorkel equipment and taking the bus over to Payne's Bay, but you can also book a catamaran tour to take you there.

Whatever you do, don't schedule a tour for every port. You need to pick one or two just to relax and (at the most) just go to a beach. St. Martin might be good for this because you can take a water taxi right over to the beach. It's not the best beach on the island, but it just makes for a really relaxing day.

Have a great cruise!

windjammer it was the best I highly recommend.

St Thomas - So much here to choose from but a great place to make a beach day and have a Bushwacher at http://paradisepointtramway.com/

St Lucia - Cosoal is the best we booked him and it just happened to rain the day we were in port and we still got our monies worth he took us to so many of the island hide a ways and love the St Lucia bottled beer it is so good.

Have a great time on your honeymoon

Mariott St Kitts and Sandals St Lucia both offer day passes. Swim, sun, sail, relax. St Maarten Divi Little Bay great beach day.

You'll love this cruise,,,,EXCEPT,,,,IMO this itinerary is VERY busy, and doesn't leave much time for relaxation. Pace yourself, and leave some time to relax. The last time I took this cruise, I had to book another slower pace cruise when I got home so that I could rest! :D

Seriously, you'll find this to be a super nice cruise, but take it easy, and enjoy yourself!

My DH & I are on your sailing on the Victory. We also like to alternate between adventure days & relaxing days. The excursions we have booked that we are most looking forward to are:

River tubing with Antours in Dominica

Catamaran Excursion (with snorkeling & beach time) in St. Kitts

Island Tour & Jalousie Beach with Spencer Ambrose

Congratulations on your marriage. I am sure you will have a great time.

Actually, Orient Beach is on the French side and you port on the Dutch side. The French side is much more upscale and Orient Beach is among the top beaches in the world. The nudity is not predominant unless you walk far to the right. There you'd feel out of place with clothes on. Or so we've heard.

On St Kitts we just took a cab to Cockleshell beach and then to another (name escapes me), Snorkelled at both. Odd to see monkeys running around wild with the wild goats and wild cows.
