scorp111 Posted September 18, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 18, 2010 Any one been on this ship during this holiday? How was it? also how's the casino?:) We were on it that week in 2008, we had a great time. The ship/crew were excellent, and really that cruise is what made cruising a regular occurrence in my family. We didn't actually spend much (time or money) in the casino, so can't really say. I am sure those who play a lot would say it is the same as other cruise ships, tight!:)
LuvCruiSun Posted September 18, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 18, 2010 We went on the Carnival Elation to Cabo last year at Thanksgiving and it really isn't any different than any other cruise. They didn't have Thanksgiving dinner in the dining room, but I think there was turkey at the buffet. It was fun as always. Casino was great. dec2007w3boys Posted September 18, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 18, 2010 Yes, we were on the Valor a few years ago over Thanksgiving. It is a great ship and the staff were wonderful. They did have turkey, mashed potatoes, etc. I would highly recommend it! Oh - Casino nice too - not as nice to me as the Freedom, but
nothomeonacruise Posted September 18, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 18, 2010 Every Thanksgiving cruise I've been on had turkey and dressing at dinner. I love the family atmosphere during the holidays. There are a lot of multi-generational families. In other words, you have grandparents, aunts, uncles....etc I've said this before, but any holiday where I don't have to cook or clean is a great one. :)
Mary Ellen1 Posted September 18, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 18, 2010 We cruised the Valor 2 years ago over Thanksgiving and loved it! My sister & her family were with us, so our group totaled 9. They served a traditional turkey dinner on Thanksgiving night; DH & I ordered other entrees, plus a turkey dinner to share. We got to know the medical staff better than we'd intended to when my nephew's 15-year-old friend broke his knee while playing basketball, the first night of the cruise. His cruise was cut short and he was sent home for surgery from the first port, Grand Cayman, 2 days later. My older nephew, then 21, accompanied him. This opened up a few seats at our dining room table, and my gregarious & fun-loving brother-in-law invited the ship's medical staff to dine with us. The head doctor and 2 of the nurses came to dinner a few times; it was interesting getting to know them. We loved that class of ship, and sailed on Valor's twin, the Liberty in March, and have booked the Freedom, another twin, for this upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. maxydu Posted September 18, 2010 #7 Share Posted September 18, 2010 My DW, DD, and soon to be D son in law were on the ship last year. It was wonderful. Great weather, staff was excellent, Thanksgiving dinner was traditional. The ship is said to hold 3100 passengers but Big Tex told us there were just over 3400 on board. At any rate, it didn't feel like we were on top of eachother. Be prepared for lots of children....parents don't think twice about taking them out of school for a few days for a holiday cruise. The casino is like everyother form of legalized theft. It is there to take your money, not to give theirs to you...consider it paying for entertainment!
