Hello Bruce and Everyone,

My wife and I just returned from the Feb 5th - 12th sailing of the QM2. What can I say... It was fantastic. Without a doubt the best trip of our lives. Others have described the absolute beauty of the QM2 much more eloquently than I could so I will not elaborate other than to say, she must be seen to be believed. The staff were phenominal and couldn't do enough for you. The entertainment was very good and the planetraium is an absolute must see.

Bruce, I am glad you had a great time as well. What went wrong with your St. Martin tour? We didn't do any excursions but we did get to see the ports of call.

In St. Thomas we rented a jeep and drove around the Island. We were married at Magens Bay a few years ago so it was a definate stop for us. We also stopped at a few other beaches and several viewpoints for pictures. It was a blast and a great way to see the island on our own.

St. Martin/Sint Marteen, had to be our favorite stop though. We took a taxi to Orient beach and spent most of the day there. In my humble opinion Orient Bay is one of the worlds finest. There is lots to do, and beautiful white sand. We rented beach chairs and spent half our time at Kon Tiki and the other half on the nude side (long enough to take in the experience, not so long as to get a sunburn in areas that should not be sunburnt). Next we went to Maho beach on the Dutch side. If you are any kind of an airplane buff you MUST go to Maho. If you enjoy playing in waves about 6 ft. high you MUST go to Maho. You gotta see this... http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=201517&size=L&sok=%20BEQRE%20OL%20ivrjf%20qrfp&photo_nr=15 It really is incredible. The 747's are only about 100 ft. above your head. According to many this is the best place in the world to watch aircraft take off and land, and I believe them.

In St. Kitts we took a cab to South Friars Bay and rented beach chairs. Very nice beach, calm water and a very laid back attitude.

In Ft. Lauderdale we stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino pre-cruise which was great although it was way too cold to use the pool. Post cruise we stayed at the Ft. Lauderdale Marriott Marina. That was a pretty nice place, the pool was good and the rooms were clean. But the best part about that hotel was it was right on the water bus route. The water bus is a must do. $5 all day and it is definately the best way to see the sights in Ft. Lauderdale.

I would love to hear back from you Bruce and if anyone out there has any questions please feel free to write.

By the way Bruce, were you the really tall guy on the ship?

Take care, David

Glad to hear you had such a fabulous time on your cruise. We go transatlantic to New York on 16 April and are getting very excited.

Did you have a suite - P or Q ? We will have a P1 (1014) and as this is our first cruise, do you know what the concierge actually does for you ?

Iceman666,

No we did not have a suite. We had booked a D6 and were upgraded to a D1 Atrium Stateroom. Actually being in the D grade catagories we were required to go upstairs to the Grill class staterooms and polish shoes for an hour a day. Just kidding. No, sorry I don't know what the concierge does for you, but I do know that everyone from the guy scrubbing the decks to the restaurant staff will bend over backwards for you. I am sure you will have a great voyage.

Hello, the grill ( Q and P ) concierge is wonderful. It is a pleasant change

from having to stand in line with ( sometimes ) many others at the

pursers office.

There are usually 2-3 ladies on duty and they can help you with

almost anything onboard, from arranging a party in your suite to

helping secure shore excusions and tranfers from the pier at

your final destination or ports en-route. They even sell stamps

and have a small set-up were you can relax and enjoy coffee/tea

pastries and sandwiches ( self serve ) in peace and quiet throughout

the day.

Hope this helps.

David,

The Deluxe Island Tour of St. Martin was very rushed, the guide had a planned 10 minute coffee break at the Princess Resort & Casino but as soon as we all got off the bus we were told that we'd have to leave in 5 minutes in order to make it to Marigot because of Carnival. When we arrived in Marigot nothing was open because of Carnival. All of the shop's and restaurants were closed. We spent an hour just wandering about the flea market where most of the vendors were closing thier stalls. The guide wasn't very good and was constantly telling us what time we had to leave, infact 10 mintues before the bus departed from Marigot he was blowing the horn to get us back on the bus.

Having been to St.Martin before I know that Maho Bay Beach & the Sunset Bar is a great spot to watch the planes. I'm sorry I never made it this trip.

Take care,

Bruce
