Cecethekittencat Posted September 21, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2010 Thanks for the kind offer! We are sailing in a couple of months on her. A. Was this a party boat? Good shows and entertainment options? How are the odds in the Casino? B. Belize - Were the tenders easy and fast? Did you go into the town? C. Grand Cayman - Docked or tendered? CarnivalCruiseLover Posted September 21, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted September 21, 2010 Thanks for the kind offer! We are sailing in a couple of months on her. A. Was this a party boat? Good shows and entertainment options? How are the odds in the Casino? B. Belize - Were the tenders easy and fast? Did you go into the town? C. Grand Cayman - Docked or tendered? A. The crowd was really fun. Lots of partying, but nothing bad. B. Belize: Tenders were a breeze, did cave tubing thru carnival. I wouldn't walk around outside the dock area. We drove thru that area, and I wouldn't want to be there outside the secured area. C. Cayman. Tendered. Very fast and smooth. Casino odds. Slot machine player here, and they sucked! The casino was the slowest I have ever seen on a cruise. I heard the same story from everyone at the slots. no pay outs. I played 20 each day of the cruise, and only one time did I win, and that was $41.00... Also on each 20, rarely did I even win anything at all. Literally no wins period. Not even a buck. The machines were very tight, and I gave up. Wasn't fun.
greeneyesgreen Posted September 21, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 21, 2010 I would love to know about the ports, like what you did and whether you enjoyed it or not.
Cecethekittencat Posted September 21, 2010 #7 Share Posted September 21, 2010 Good advice ... thanks! We just got off RCCL Spendour and the casino was awful too. That's a disappointment as we usually love to play ... but if the machines just gobble up your $20 then it's no fun. Did you try the steak house? We booked it for Valentine's Day dinner. luvofthecruise Posted September 21, 2010 #8 Share Posted September 21, 2010 Question about top deck behind the big movie screen...can you still lay out up there? I was on Glory a couple of years ago and we would lay out up top even though it was tops optional which didn't bother me I just like being able to see the ocean and decks below at same time. We leave Sunday for Valor so I was just curious.

mylan Posted September 21, 2010 #11 Share Posted September 21, 2010 We're leaving on her this Sunday as well and cannot wait. Thanks for the tips on the casino, I hate to lose! What about the difference in time in Cozumel and the ships time, or any port for that matter. I'm doing Bon Voyage because I am afraid of the naughty room but did you get anything aboard? Were they searching hard?

I'm doing Bon Voyage because I am afraid of the naughty room but did you get anything aboard? Were they searching hard? We were on with the OP and the ships time did not change with the ports. We got called to the naughty room for a bottle of prescription cough syrup. It was not hidden, so I cannot say if they were looking hard. Once they saw it was not smuggled booze, they let us go on. cluckyandgerrbear Posted September 22, 2010 #14 Share Posted September 22, 2010 I see you have been on the ruby as well. We are thinking of our first Carnival cruise on Valor, having sailed on Ruby's sister- Crown Princess. How do the two compare? Food, rooms, pools, service etc... I'm not a fan of the constant movies/music on the tv screen. is there a pool area that is not in front of the tv? Thanks in advance! :D

Thanks! I am going to bring an empty flask to transport any unused liquor back home, I suppose I will get called anyway if they saw a bottle of cough syrup, either that or put it in my carry-on and let em see it empty! Nothing against kiddo's we just don't have any. didnt see any kids back there the whole week. You go through the sliding glass doors and they have signs posted on the doors as well about it being adults only as well. There is a bar back there too.;) The captain must have known we were headed for rain because one afternoon the roof started closing while we were in the pool and about 10 minutes later it was pouring rain. Nice that we didn't have to get out of the pool.:) Bill

I'm not a fan of the constant movies/music on the tv screen. is there a pool area that is not in front of the tv? Thanks in advance! :D The Ruby Princess was our first cruise and we loved, loved it. We also loved, loved the Valor. As far as a comparison between the two, I will say we did not notice enough differences to mention. We had a balcony room on Lido on both ships. They were nearly identical, except that we had a sofa on Valor and only a chair on Princess. The balcony was about the same as well as the bathroom. There is an adult pool in the rear of the ship if you do not want the movie screen. The pools seemed about the same size as on the Ruby(maybe one more pool on the Valor counting the one at the waterslide), we had excellent service on both ships. I really think the food on Carnival was better than Princess, but I was happy with both. I really liked the dessert selection on Carnival and loved being able to get the Warm Chocolate Melting cake every night if I wanted. I loved the shows in the dining room and our waiters were alot of fun. Princess waiters were a little more formal. Needless to say, I would sail either or both cruiselines again and hope I have the opportunity to do so.
ChefSusan Posted September 22, 2010 #25 Share Posted September 22, 2010 If you remember, what movies were playing on the big screen? We're sailing on Freedom a month for now, and I'd love to know ahead of time what our options will be. That is all... thanks!
