The central station in Quebec City is Gare du Palais, and you'll probably want to go from there to Montreal Central Station unless you're headed directly to a flight, in which case you want Montreal Dorval.

 

I'd have no hesitation using VIA Rail's website to reserve a ticket. The link is in Twickenham's post. You'd pick the ticket up at the station office in Quebec when you get there. Splurge for a business class ticket if you can and look for an online special or supersaver fare. It costs much less than you'd expect from your airline experience and it's a great way to travel.

About 3 1/2 hours, it makes 3-4 stops enroute and pulls right into station which is across the street from Chateau Champlain Marriott. Special rates available on limited basis, I paid $89 pp for business class with full meal service with wine. Very relaxing ride!

While the train is comfortable, there are only a handful of departures each day. On the other hand, Orléans Express operates express buses every hour between the two cities, also taking about 3 hours. The buses leave from the same station in Québec as do the trains. Consider both options.
