Satincruz Posted September 25, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted September 25, 2010 Why not give the link for the webcam? :)http://www.msccrociere.it/maps/viewweb.asp?wb=1&sname=MSC%20Poesia&ship=MSCPoesia Hi MM42, Sorry--didn't mean to keep it a secret :) The thing is that I'm never able to post the link--when I try, it looks like this: ****************************/schiffsposition.php?schiff=Poesia Rather than the direct MSC site, I started using a German web cam site--it also has lists of daily itineraries for many ships (and for months out) as well as detailed deck plans, and usually also links directly to the world maritime radar site: http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/default.aspx?centerx=30¢ery=25&zoom=2&level1=140 But since it is actually a German internet TA site, I guess the link gets partially-blocked ... Wow--you don't have long to wait at all! I'm not actually on Poesia right now--I just like to watch from the web cams ;) Today's port is Charlottetown - Prince Edward Island. I don't think these cam shots are doing it justice, though--I've heard it is VERY pretty there!

retpoda Posted September 30, 2010 #9 Share Posted September 30, 2010 I have friends sailing on Poesia now. Wonder if they will be able to go to newport, I believe they need to use the LIFEBOATS to get to shore. Anyone know?
Satincruz Posted October 1, 2010 Author #10 Share Posted October 1, 2010 I have friends sailing on Poesia now. Wonder if they will be able to go to newport, I believe they need to use the LIFEBOATS to get to shore. Anyone know? My first guess was that they really would try for Newport--being the first-ever visit, and probably having many shore excursions already set up, etc. But now that I see the gale warning around Rhode Island (!), I don't think they will be able to run tenders through those winds and waves: http://www.wunderground.com/MAR/AN/236.html I wonder if they may just decide to go to Boston again, since the tenders aren't needed there ... retpoda Posted October 1, 2010 #11 Share Posted October 1, 2010 I think they may just do another 24 hours at sea, boy they must be rocking, so they can keep the casino opened. My friends have a cabin on 14th deck. feel bad for them all. I am watching where the ship is on satalite. Thanks for writing back.
Satincruz Posted October 1, 2010 Author #12 Share Posted October 1, 2010 I hope your friends aren't feeling too sick. The stabilizers are pretty good, so maybe things aren't that bad ... I just found them on satellite, too--but is it right? Are they already way back down on the NY latitude (WAY ahead of schedule)?? http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/default.aspx?zoom=10&mmsi=355931000¢erx=-69.41581700¢ery=40.56460200
retpoda Posted October 1, 2010 #13 Share Posted October 1, 2010 The ship is right outside of newport. they are due to be there today at 10AM. Still wondering what they will do. We will soon see. I live on LI, and so far it is ok here, though we are still being warned about high winds and alot of rain today.

Satincruz Posted October 1, 2010 Author #15 Share Posted October 1, 2010 Wow! And the weather looks SO beautiful there, too :) Did the storm blow offshore early?
lopakarob Posted October 1, 2010 #16 Share Posted October 1, 2010 I'm on the Poesia now anchored off Newport. We are waiting our turn for the Tender ride into town. We had heavy fog all day yesterday, and rough seas last night. It's cloudy here and the wind is picking up. Looking forward to being back in NY tomorrow. lopakarob Posted October 1, 2010 #17 Share Posted October 1, 2010 Just cancelled remaining excursion due to high wind and rough water. They say it's too dangerous to board the tenders. Looks like another day on the ship.
Ladyarli Posted October 1, 2010 #18 Share Posted October 1, 2010 If anyone reading this took the all day excursion in Quebec City, did the tour stop at Chez Marie for bread? Just curious. I saw them on the Food Network a few years ago, and I fell off the couch laughing when they said they call their bread "Pain Fess". Hee hee. Also, did anyone book their shore excursions ahead of time online? I requested several excursions a few days ago. I was expecting some kind of confirmation email, but I've received nothing. Thanks for any answers. Cheryl D.
lopakarob Posted October 1, 2010 #19 Share Posted October 1, 2010 Weather cleared a bit - got on a tender into Newport for a walk in the rain. Sorry can't help you, Cheryl - I didn't book any excursions through the cruise line.
