Darkwood Beach

Has anyone been to Darkwood Beach recently? Is it easy to get a taxi there and back? I heard the snorkeling is better there than other beaches on the island, is this true? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It's easy to get a taxi there. You can make arrangements with your driver to return at a certain time. We use the bus there and back. The snorkeling isn't the greatest. While the water is beautiful it's not really clear enough for good snorkeling. Antigua isn't known as a great snorkeling island.

stayed in antigua for a week last year and hit up a beach every day. there is no good beach for snorkeling. the best would probably be turners by the rocks on the left as you view the ocean. but not great. however, you will see some colorful fish. unless you get to green island.

but antigua is one of the worse spots in carib for snorkeling

Thanks for the info. Do you recommend just going to a different beach? Or is Darkwood worth the trip? I read the view from the beach was pretty great....

Yes, on a clear day you'll have a great view of Montserrat. All the beaches are nice in that area.
