Flying Question

Recommended Posts

It's been a long time since I've flown. If you are changing airlines, do you have to gather your luggage and take it to the next airline? We start off on American and have to change to Delta in Dallas.

American and Delta should not be a problem. There are a few airlines out there that do not have an agreement with any of the airlines for baggage transfer.
But you should be able to check your luggage all the way through when you board for your first flight.
I have only ran into a problem one time in all of these years where I had to collect my baggage and re-check it with another airline while flying in the U.S.

I sure hope you don't have to carry much luggage between the American and Delta flights at DFW Airport. Those two terminals, regardless of whether you go on American into terminal A or C, is a hike from Delta's terminal E.

I fly out of DFW, and have never had to transfer flights there, and wouldn't want to, given the inconvenient distance between all the terminals.

Just make sure you show your tickets for your connection to the first ticket agent and let them know you want to check your bags through to your final destination.

DTM09 is correct, you don't want to drag much with you when you connect. Just make sure you take the usual with you in your carry-on... medication, money, jewelry and documents.
