Feed the fish when snorkeling?

I have been snorkeling in Aruba and the Turks & Caicos. In Aruba you can feed the fish and in the T&C you can not. I was wondering if in Cayman it is ok to feed the fish. Does anyone know? I wan't to see as many colourful fish as I can. When we were in the T&C we paid 45 euros to go snorkeling and as one of our snorkeling buddies put it... "saw more fish last night on the table at dinner!" I sure would hate to be dissapointed like that again. Also tips on what to feed them? Thanks, 10 days to go!

It is legal to feed the fish in Grand Cayman. It is done all the time from stingray city to Eden Rock and in between. I would recommend fish food, not people food which can cause some digestive issues.

There are some people who will say it is not ok, but it is.

Cemetery Reef is a very popular spot for both snorkelingcemetery3_small.JPG and sun tanning. This beautiful location will offer the best of both worlds, a beach entrance and good snorkeling nearby.

The reefs are few minutes away resting in about 20ft of water. The marine life is very abundant, of you are brave, bring some fish food with you so you can have the "Cayman Piranhas" experience. Sergeantcemetery6_small.JPG Majors, so called "Cayman Piranhas", will literally swarm you for a morsel, better yet, look for somebody else with food so you can watch the "other guy" get enveloped by fish. (Probably a smarter move)

I carry several small ziplock bags and get cheese off the buffet. It does not get soggy in the water like crackers or bread. I fed the fish in Caymans in Jan. You might get some small squids from a convience type store if you are going on your own. Squid is what they feed the rays...
