We were on the Crazies Cruise in Sept 2009 and will be again in February, are we eligible for a "swat"?

I'm makin' and 'Official Member of The SWAT Team of Fun' for the Crazies who weren't on the ship!

Remind me tomorrow and I'll be THRILLED to slap you!!!

:D

Mach,

I want to thank you - and the rest of the Crazies - for writing this incredible review! I would absolutely LOVE to cruise with you guys at some point!

I was sad to hear that you did not make it to two of your ports, but I guess that's the risk that one takes when cruising during hurricane season.

We'll be going to Nachi in two weeks - cannot wait to read about your adventures there!!!

Keep up the excellent work - am subscribing to this so that I can read the rest of the review as it comes in!

Stupid question ... How to you sign up to be a crazy?? new to this board but see alot of postings..

You can sign up to cruise with them. I think Feb's Ecstasy cruise will be the next. They were talking about doing the last Oct 2011 Conquest cruise before Conquest leaves for New Orleans.

Come join them, you wouldnt be sorry. It is lots of fun to have friends onboard.

Getting on with it...

After our stroll on the Promenade and a drink in the Lobby Bar we headed aft to the Monet for dinner. Everyone was anticipating the menu that evening and I suspect most had already scoped it out on the interactive system on the TV. We had already made our choices… the West Indian Pumpkin Soup, Black Tiger Shrimp Cocktail and Duet of Broiled Lobster and Grilled Black Tiger Shrimp. Stitch had substantially the same save for the pumpkin soup. Instead she opted for the Baked Stuffed White Mushrooms. It was a fine pick.

Now, everything was very good indeed, the Pumpkin Soup was smooth and velvety, rich and deep in flavor without bashing you over the head with the pumpkin notes. The lobster, though not large, was very succulent and tender, cooked just right with a nice little pool of drawn butter to swim the piece through. The shrimp were HUGE and brilliantly red on the outside, crisp and firm to the teeth. They, too, enjoyed the butter bath.

Now, those mushrooms… of course, they come out imitating Escargot, which to me is quite cruel. The stuffing and the sauce were wonderful foils to the slight al dente bite of the mushroom caps. The combination of spinach in a tiny dice and the nutty essence of the Romano cheese worked superbly. In other words, they were darn good. I hate it when Stitch’s food sense beats mine… and beats it good.

No matter, it all lead up to the Cherries Jubilee. I’m not a desert guy but I ordered it to sample the sauce as the ice cream would make my insides my outsides. Yep… darn good. The cherry brandy was quite evident in the sauce that was deep, deep red, glistening and smooth as a warm summer breeze. Wonderful stuff. It must have been wonderful as everyone at our table and every other table I could see had chosen the same thing.

Oh, I forgot to mention that we had a guest at our table. People kept telling me he was full of hot air and had no place at our table but I thought he was rather well behaved and quiet most of the evening…

Although he didn’t really dress up much he was in uniform and that certainly counts for something.

Everyone else looked rather dapper and prepared for a fine evening…

This was also our first night for the dining room entertainment. The waiters lined the stairs to the upper level of the Monet to sing for us. Now, some folks find the waiters dancing and singing hokey and out of place. I have to respectfully disagree. Only the people who want to participate do, it’s not a required thing and everyone in our dining room applauded loudly at the conclusion.

I apologize for the lack of food porn in this post. I was hungry.
