The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service launched a search and rescue operation Tuesday October 5, 2010 after a call for help reporting missing divers.

The boat operator reported two guests and one staff member missing after a dive inside the North Sound near Stingray City. Police successfully recovered all three divers who had been swept outside the reef into rough waters.

Currents are rare in Cayman, but occasionally strong tidal current can occur near the boat channels linking the North Sound and open water. The tide was outgoing around the time of the incident and could have been a contributing factor.
