I will be visiting this port for the first time in Sept. 2011, and I need some suggestions on local tour operators and what the best things to do in the area? City tours? Beaches? Eco tours? anything else fun? All suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

April, You really don't need to pay for a tour in St. Thomas unless you want to. The beaches are all very easy to get to, we usually either take a taxi or one of the open air trucks that hold several people. The shopping is also very easy to go to. You can also hire someone to drive you around to scenic parts of the island and then drop you off at a beach or the shopping area if you wish for a very reasonable amount of money. I have been to Coral World, Coki Beach, Saphire Beach, Megans Bay Beach, and we have taken the Redhook to St John to Trunk Bay (just beautiful). Most of the taxi drivers are very helpful and will set a time with you to pick you up, just keep in mind that the traffic gets thick in the afternoon so allow plenty of time to get back to your ship.
