deanswife1990 Posted October 11, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2010 I originally posted this on the carnival thread and had a suggestion to try and see what type of response I would get here. So here goes.....: Before some of you start attacking me, My DH, bff and her husband and I just got off a cruise on the Freedom. We had a fabulous time. We enjoyed a lot of what the ship had to offer. Spent a few dollars in the casino (I would rather spend my money on other things like the spa, etc...), bingo and spent some time in the 70's club and karoke. Only had one instance that I really hated was a guy wearing a t-shirt with different "positions" on it in the MDR. I understand that nowadays people can wear just about anything in the MDR but can't the line be drawn somewhere? There were parents of small children and older people in the dining room that were offended. Anyway, back to my original question. I was wondering how many people there are like us on a cruise. Christians who don't drink but like to have a good time. We would have loved to met others like us. (Don't be offended anyone can do as they wish just as I can do as I wish). Would anyone like us be interested in possibly doing a group cruise?
2SeaWithMe Posted October 12, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 12, 2010 We would probably be interested. I'd looked at some of the other cruises, and I noticed they leave a lot of stuff off the ship...no bars, no bingo, different shows, etc. My husband and I drink rarely, but that moves up to once a day on vacation, so I wouldn't be interested in doing an alcohol free cruise. Personally, I probably wouldn't return to Carnival though.
Gramacia Posted October 14, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2010 Hello: I just read read your post about looking for other Chrsitians who like to cruise, and I would be very interested. We just returned from a wonderful European cruise on Princess, and I was not able to connect with one Christian to have some fellowship. I am fairly new on these message boards, but I would like Cruise Critic to consider adding "Cruising Christians" to it's special interest topics. We like to drink wine, travel and have fun, but I also would like to have some time with other Chrisitians onboard, as I know they are there, but have not be able to connect. We are in our early 60's and just finished our 7th cruise, so we will be doing more cruises. Anyway, if someone can help out with how to get my idea passed on to Cruise Critic regarding my idea, I would appreciate the info. We love cruising and seeing the world, and sharing tours rather than taking the ship tours!
amylee1178 Posted October 18, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 18, 2010 Hi :) I posted in the original thread but figured I'd post here, too. My husband and I would certainly be interested :D
The Floaties Posted November 2, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 2, 2010 My husband and I just returned from our first cruise together and would be interested in hearing about a Christian Cruise.
kembjkk Posted November 20, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 20, 2010 There is a "Couples of Promise" Christian cruise in Feb. of 2011. While it doesn't take over the whole ship, it would still mean Christian fellowship and seminars. Kevin Leaman speaks at meetings on this cruise. Sounds like fun!
jackjoy1 Posted November 27, 2010 #7 Share Posted November 27, 2010 My wife and I are Christians who agrees with Deanswife, we would have been appalled by that shirt! We have sailed mostly on Holland America and have never witnessed something like that in any common areas, much less in the MDR. Charles Stanley, as well as others, have offered Christian Cruises through their ministries. On one of these cruises I looked online to get a price but the cruise did not show, so I assume the whole ship was chartered for this event. deanswife1990 Posted December 8, 2010 Author #8 Share Posted December 8, 2010 Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't checked this in a while. We decided to give Royal Caribbean a try and have booked a cruise on the Freedom of the Seas for Sept 25, 2011. It's me, my DH, my BFF and her husband (a pastor) and my mom and dad (a pastor). We would love it if some other believers would join us. :D

Caribean but discovered there would also be 500 gay men onboard so we cancelled because we just would not be comfortable. I give the glory to God for allowing me to find this out before we set sail and we were able to get most of our money back because we bought the "cancel for any reason" insurance. rmemom Posted December 9, 2010 #11 Share Posted December 9, 2010 Our cruise is to the eastern caribbean. Cococay, St Thomas and St Maarten. Join us if you can. We have been to the eastern caribbean a couple of times so won't be going again this time altho we thoroughly enjoyed it. I would like to share with you a neat thing that happened to us on our cruise to Mexico in '07. We attended the non-denominational church service and sat next to a friendly couple. As it turned out, they were our "boat buddies" for the rest of the cruise and we had a marvelous time. We have visited and stayed in their home in Wisconsin several times and they will be coming out to California in April. My husband and I are ballroom dancers so we danced every night and our boat buddies did too. Have a wonderful, blessed cruise!
dispachcops Posted December 29, 2010 #12 Share Posted December 29, 2010 Everytime I see a Christian themed cruise, it is usually 2-3 times the price of a cruise that I book myself. It would be nice to have a "family friendly" cruise that has no "special interest groups" that are contrary to family friendly ideals, and also having shows and comedians that are "family friendly" as I hate to be bombarded with swear words and sexual innuendos all throughout the act. The worst was on my last cruise Dave Heenan - comedian, very crude, not very funny and I would have been a lot better off had I not gone to the show that night... is it soo hard to do a comedy routine without swear words or sexual innuendos? or has our society just degraded to the point where that is the norm and I am out of touch with reality? afinn Posted January 15, 2011 #13 Share Posted January 15, 2011 We took a Carnival cruise once, not knowing it was an alternative lifestyle cruise with 400 gay men. Fortunately we met another Christian couple that we had dinner with, etc. but if we would have know the ship was this kind of specialty cruise, we wouldn't have gone! We are going on the Freedom of the Seas next month for the Couples of Promise cruise with Kevin Leman, and can't wait!!!
Athankfulheart Posted January 27, 2011 #14 Share Posted January 27, 2011 (edited) We are alot like you :D We don't get offended very easily but rather take the opportunity to laugh at life & people sometimes. That said, we really appreciate like company ! We just booked this cruise about a week ago and are very excited. I'd also love to go on the Lehman cruise as well. We basically got a B1G1 deal on fare for this cruise because of our timing. There are definately cabins left ! Fred8 Posted February 13, 2011 #15 Share Posted February 13, 2011 As I see the thing, it should rather be something like "Human Dignity" cruise where homosexual themes, ragged clothing, vulgarity and other things like that wouldn't be considered included in "Human Rights", allowed and available without any question. You surely wouldn't mind if some of the other decent fellow passengers were Jews, Muslims or just intelligent secular people? I, being a Christian myself, wouldn’t. patseacruiser Posted February 13, 2011 #16 Share Posted February 13, 2011 There is a Christian Themed Cruise Line called Steps of Paul for those of you who may be interested in that theme and the places of the Bible.

I had this long drawn out reply that I was going to send but I think I'll just keep it short and sweet. I never said that I had a problem with any of the groups that you mention. Because I don't. I wouldn't mind sitting at a table with any of them and getting to know them as people not as a label. Having a group of other christians to sail with would mean opportunities for bible studies, etc.(of course anyone who wanted to come would be welcome). Not all christians are bigoted, ignorant rednecks and even though I may not agree with lifestyles etc., it doesn't mean that people(regardless of religious preference, race or sexual orientation) should not be treated with dignity and respect. All I wanted to know is if there were other christians who would like to have a group cruise thru CC. I'm not going to get into a back and forth with you on this. Apparently it is not something you would be interested in doing.
kcruisin15 Posted February 20, 2011 #18 Share Posted February 20, 2011 My husband and I also get tired of all the crude language, the excessive drinking on cruises. We love to cruise and will keep going - it would just be nice to have conversations with other people who put God first in their lives. My husband loves to go out early and have his quiet time and do his bible study. It would be nice to do this with a group. We already have a cruise booked for this year but maybe one in 2012 would be great. A group from our church took a cruise together several years ago and they had a great time.

SingBill Posted March 8, 2011 #20 Share Posted March 8, 2011 My DH (Bill) and I would be interested. When we go with a group we often arrange to have a "church" service. It never fails that others we meet during the cruise show up to fellowship together.
SmedonSeas Posted June 5, 2011 #21 Share Posted June 5, 2011 (edited) Hi all, I've seen some Christian music cruises...just google it and you'll find Christian artist like chris tomlin, the afters etc...I think these cruises cost a bit more, but sounds like some great worship and concerts. Old Thorny Posted June 15, 2011 #22 Share Posted June 15, 2011 My DW and I are going on a "Gaither Alaskan" cruise next month on the MS Amsterdam. It is a fully charted cruise and is now booked out. It will feature Southern Gospel singing concerts twice daily (Ithink) with well known artist. The bars and casino will be closed, but you can still have wine etc with your meals. I believe that the cruise is more expensive than a normal cruise. There is also an inspirational speaker on board and daily devotional times, I believe. Bill & Gloria Gaither organise cruises each year, alternating between The Caribeen, Hawaii and Alaska and always featuring Southern Gospel singing (is there any other kind?).:D
MaryRSnyder Posted June 16, 2011 #23 Share Posted June 16, 2011 Premier Christian Cruises puts on about 5 Christian cruises every year -- and they have the Music Boat this November. They charter an entire ship, but there is still alcohol for those who would like a drink, beer or glass of wine. The music and entertainment is all Christian acts -- this year it's Chris Tomlin, Mercy Me, Brandon Heath, Newsboys and a ton of others. And one of my favs -- Sanctus Real. The prices are really good -- in fact they have a buy one cabin fare and get one free right now. I don't think it's that publicized, but you can get it if you ask about it. Great deal! :)

SnowDiamonds Posted June 28, 2011 #25 Share Posted June 28, 2011 Ouch, that music boat cruise is 5 days and the cheapest interior room is $1600 on Carnival! Very cool musical artists but boy do you pay for it. I think I will stick with following this thread and see if we book something reasonable in the future.
