Cherbourg meet-up point?

I will be visiting Cherbourg on the QM2 on Nov. 9 and plan on meeting someone for lunch. Do you know of any centrally located land marks that might serve as a good meet up point? Our plan now is just to have her look for us as we leave the ship at the pier, but that just seems too vague and chancy. It just seems better if we had a specific point and time established for our meet up. TIA for any suggestions.

Cite de la Mer, the art-deco former trans-Atlantic terminal building & now a maritime museum is right alongside the pier. It has a cafe. But the museum doesn't open til 9.30am & I'm none-too-sure whether the cafe is before the museum ticket office or after.
